Get Ready for Off-Road Driving with Specialized Lighting

Posted by Truck Man @ 3:42 pm, January 28th, 2010

Celebrate the end of January with some off-road lighting equipment. In some parts of the country, winter is just about over. Welcome the spring weather and enjoy the outdoors by going on an off-roading adventure. For those of you still shivering up in the northern states, you may need to stick to the snowmobiling for awhile longer, but it’s never too early to think ahead. That way you’ll be ready when your spring weather finally arrives.

There are quite a few different manufacturers and models of Off Road Lights, so do a little research to determine which model best fits your needs. Hella’s Rallye 400 Series Off Road Lights are great adaptable off-roading lights. They can be mounted upright, pendant, or sideways without affecting beam placement, and beams are designed to hold steady even on rough terrain. Each light is housed in a rugged, die-cast chrome frame with a revolutionary mounting system that allows lamps to be aimed without the use of tools. One bulb and stone shield are included, wiring harness, clear cover and grille covers are also available.

PIAA Off Road Lights are powered by All-Terrian Pattern (ATP) technology, a PIAA exclusive. ATP provides a beam with the perfect combination of width, height, and distance. Each light kit includes two 12 volt, 135 watt XTRA Xtreme White ATP bulbs, housed in black stamped steel with glass lenses. The kits also include a wiring harness, relay, switch, and 2 black PIAA mesh covers.

Once you have chosen your lights, you should also invest in a light bar to mount them to. CARR manufactures Off Road Light Bars that are designed to mount to your vehicle’s roof gutter. If your vehicle only has internal gutters, CARR’s Gutterless Mount Kit can be used.  The light bar includes special keyed bolts for protection and can hold up to 4 lbs. of lights. CARR’s light bar also has an exclusive feature that allow you to rotate the light bar, leaving your lights facedown for extra protection or clearance needs. It is available in three finishes: polished steel, black powdercoat, and titanium silver powdercoat.

Cut through the Fog and Light up the Road

One of the keys to driving safely is good visibility. It is important to have effective lighting to maintain a good view of the road. Hella Lighting offers a large selection of lights to meet your needs for inclement weather, and nighttime or daytime driving. Fog Lights are specifically designed for use in poor weather conditions, such as rain, sleet, snow, fog, or even a dust storm. They are often mounted low to increase illumination of the road, and should be used at lower speeds. Hella 220 Fog Lights provide an accurately directed light without “dazzling” oncoming traffic, which ensures good visibility for you, without compromising the visibility of other drivers. It’s a quick and easy install, with all needed parts included: 2 lamps, 2 bulbs, 2 stone shields, and mounting kit with durable metal brackets that ensure accurate beam placement. These fog lights also add a stylish touch to the front of your vehicle even when not in use!
When traveling at night, Driving Lights can be beneficial, especially in unlit or rural areas. In fact, they got their name before nighttime driving was common. There were very few properly lit roads, and thus “driving lights” were the standard lamps used on early vehicles. Of course, now lower beams have become the standard, but driving lights remain a great way to improve nighttime visibility. Hella 500 Driving Lights are very sturdy with shock-proof, water-tight housings, and come with super-bright 12-Volt/55-Watt bulbs. Stone shields come included and provide additional protection. Also, optional Color Shieldz can be purchased to protect the lamps from scratches and change the color of your light!
The newest trend in auto and truck lighting is LED Running Lights. LEDs or Light Emitting Diodes have an extremely long life, and provide superior visibility and safety due to their inherent vibration resistance. Higher-end manufacturers are already beginning to incorporate LEDs into their models for these benefits, as well as their stylish look. Why wait? You can purchase Hella’s LED Daytime Running Lights for your current vehicle. This light kit comes with five high-performance LEDs in a stable plastic housing. They are DOT & SAE compliant and are easy to install. Daytime running lights turn on whenever your vehicle is in use, and offer additional safety, especially on lower visibility days.

Dog Days of Summer - What Now?

Posted by Truck Stuff @ 12:20 pm, August 5th, 2008

Now that we are into the Dog Days of Summer, it is time to start thinking about what follows. If your kid(s) are going to college then you need to plan out how you are going to get all of their stuff back to school. This is when a hitch basket comes in handy. If you have a roof rack, then a roof basket is ideal because it can hold all of your stuff. If you need to keep everything dry and secure then a roof top box would probably be better. Valley Industries makes quality towing and cargo products and carry everything listed above.

But what if you have younger children…. You know you will be driving them back and forth to the soccer and/or football fields. A cargo net will probably come in handy as well as floor guards. Remember how the mud just accumulates on your vehicle’s carpet. Floor mats and guards keep your carpet like new, plus, you can just pull out the guards and hose them down. Nifty Catch All Xtreme mats really do the trick.

Before you know it, it will be fall and it usually tends to be rainy and foggy. This is when fog or driving lights come in to play. Hella makes some really great lights which will increase your comfort level when driving the kids around. Rain Guards, of course, are a no brainer. They are useful for any season; always keeping the rain and weather out while letting the fresh air in.

How About Truck Lights And A Truck Toolbox?

Posted by Vehicle Stuff @ 6:21 pm, December 24th, 2007

Some things are simply made to help you get the best use out of your vehicle – and your tools. A good truck toolbox will help you get the best out of both. You can’t be efficient if you can’t find what you need, when you need it. So you need to keep your things organized, protected and easily transportable. Of course, one of the most important tools you will ever use on a job is the vehicle itself. Make sure you have things it needs – like truck lights, for instance – that will make using it easy and safe.
