Prepare Your Truck for Christmas Transport

Posted by Truck Man @ 3:32 pm, December 7th, 2009

Christmas is a time of tradition. Each family has its own way: heading to the store to buy an artificial, boxed tree (or pulling their old tree out of the garage or basement).  For others, it’s time to head to the local Christmas tree lot to pick out a live tree. The more adventurous among us may even drive a little further and cut down our tree each year. However you bring home your tree, it’s important to keep your truck protected (though admittedly you have less to worry about with a boxed tree) from scratches and other damage a pine tree can cause.

The perfect solution is a Truck Bed Liner. STK’s Line-A-Bed Bed Liners are custom designed so they have a perfect factory fit. They are made of high-density polyethylene and have a ribbed floor pattern, which allows for better drainage. This ribbed design also creates more cushioning to protect against denting. These bed liners keep cargo (like Christmas tree boxes!) secure with molded-in supports that allow two tiered stacking and an “SR” skid-resistant surface. Hardware and tailgate protector are included and the liner is covered by a lifetime warranty.

BedRug also makes a great line of Bed Liners called BedTred. These bed liners are made of 1/4–inch TPO composite bonded to a layer of water-proof, closed-cell foam. Their custom fit conforms to the contours and shape of your tuck bed and their textured surface prevents cargo from sliding. Factory tie downs are still accessible and usable, which will come in handy when tying down your tree. Installation is easy and requires no prepping, drilling, or sanding. Now unload your tree, stand it up, and move on to step two: Decorating.

Much like the selection of trees, every family has their own way of decorating. Lights: white, colored, or a mix of both; Garland: gold tinsel, silver beads, ribbon, or even popcorn; Ornaments: themes, mishmash, glass, wooden, homemade, store-bought, etc. One thing we can all agree on is what goes under the tree: presents! How are you going to get them all home? If your truck bed has a cap, then it’s easy, otherwise, a Tonneau Cover may be the right choice for you. A tonneau will keep your bed and its cargo protected from inclement weather and prying eyes. Lund’s Genesis Tri-Fold is a top-quality tonneau that is made of tear-resistant, high-quality, double-sided fabric. Its rails and bows have strong, rigid extrusions, and its easy use clamps provide tension and security. It installs in less than two minutes and folds in thirds for easy-access. Now, if you can just transfer those gifts from truck to house without any peeking, you’ll be ready for Christmas!

Buyers Guides Make Online Shopping Easier!

Posted by Truck Man @ 4:19 pm, November 30th, 2009

This year, more than ever, people are looking for great value when shopping for the holidays. Due to the current economic conditions, we all have a little less to spend, and we want it to go further. Great quality for lower prices is a common mantra, but unfortunately, we do not all have the time to do hours of research to find the greatest deal.  Thankfully, some retailers have thought ahead and prepared buyers guides for their customers. Buyers guides explain the intricacies of specific products and often give advantages and disadvantages to make comparing products easier. They can be especially helpful when shopping online because you cannot hold the product in your hand or ask a salesperson for advice.

For example, if a relative or friend would like protection for their pickup truck bed you can read through the buyers guide on Truck Bed Liners to determine if a liner is what they are looking for. Liners cover the surface of the truck bed and protect the bed from scratches and general wear from shifting cargo. Perhaps this is not the sort of protection they need, they are more concerned about keeping their truck bed free of leaves and snow. If this is the case, a tonneau cover is the answer. There are quite a few different types: Seal & Peel (great for extreme climates), Hinged (quick, easy access to truck beds), and Roll-Up Tonneau Covers (roll up securely to allow truck bed’s full use). Check out the various buyers guides for more tonneau information! Another popular gift idea is a Truck Bed Toolbox, which securely stores tools for any handyman or woman. Crossover, Low Profile, and Side Truck Boxes are some of the varieties that are further explained in the buyers guides. It’s easy to get great value with a little bit of research and buyers guides are a good place to start!

BedRug’s Complete Line Now Available at BuyAutoTruckAccessories.com

BuyAutoTruckAccessories.com now carries the complete BedRug line! BedRug makes high-quality mats and liners for trucks and vans. Their liners and mats are vehicle specific and thus follow the shape and contours of your vehicle to provide a snug, custom fit. Universal mats will not provide the same protection so check out the entire BedRug line for better fitting truck and van protection.
BedRug Bed Liners are made of 100% close cell polypropylene fiber that is bonded to polypropylene foam. They look and feel like carpet but are more durable and protective. They are unaffected by bleach, oil, gas, acids, and other chemicals, so you can haul any kind of cargo without worrying about damaging your liner. They are also fade resistant, and do not retain water, so liquids won’t seep in and leave your truck at risk for rust.  The foam bottom won’t scratch your truck bed’s paint job, and gives the liner a little extra cushion, making it easier on your knees. They also provide a great sleeping surface when camping. The truck liners install very easily, with no power tools needed!

The BedRug Truck Bed Mat is made of 100% polypropylene that is durable even with heavy cargo or inclement weather. It can also accommodate fragile loads with its thick carpet-like foam, and even provides a great place to sit. The bed mats come in two different styles: one is designed specially for trucks that have a drop-in plastic bed liner, and the other is made for trucks without a bed liner, or with a spray-in liner. Both are easy to install and can be removed quickly for cleaning. You can also add the optional tailgate mat for more coverage and protection.

BedRug’s Van Cargo Mat is made of an anti-skid, durable, regrind rubber and has an under layer of poly closed cell foam. The rubber layer offers great traction and keeps cargo from moving around and damaging your van. The foam layer adds extra cushion for your cargo and provides a soft feel. These van mats are die-cut for clean edges and are cut resistant. They are completely waterproof and easy to clean.

Outlined below are some things to consider when comparing an STK drop-in bedliner to a spray-on bedliner.

- Protection from a Drop-In Bedliner
* Shock absorbing ribs (protection against dents, scrapes)
* Chemical resistant
* Thicker sidewalls
* Consistent thickness and hardness of liner material
* Protects paint finish, prevents rust
- vs. a Spray-In Bedliner
* Prone to damage from dents
* Scrapes/abrasions can expose bare sheet metal
* Thickness dependent on application technique & skill of installer
* Truck bed must be damaged by sanding paint finish (if not done properly, rust will form)

- Skid Resistance and Cargo Control from a Drop-In Bedliner
* STK’s co-extruded skid resistant material is virtually wear proof
* Molded-in supports for 2-tier stacking and lock-in loading
- vs. Spray-In Bedliner
* Skid resistance may wear off from use
* UV inhibitor reduces skid resistance
* May prohibit use of original equipment features like 2-tier stacking

- Your Investment of a Drop-In Bedliner
* Considerably less expensive than spray-ons
* Better resale value/protects investment
* STK Nationwide Lifetime Limited Warranty
- vs. a Spray-In Bedliner
* High cost (2-5 times more costly than drop-in bedliners)
* Costly UV inhibitor must be purchased and applied annually
* May reduce resale value
* Installation may void paint warranty
* May cause “excess wear” charges on leases

- The Durability of Drop-In Bedliner
* Tough, high density polyethylene
* Rich black finish is resistant to UV fading with no yearly maintenance
* Scratches in drop-in bedliner do not contribute to rust (protects factory finish)
- vs. a Spray-In Bedliner
* Durability is dependent on the skill of the applicator
* Fading may occur without annual application of UV inhibitor
* Susceptible to dents and scratches which contribute to rust

- Ease of Use for a Drop-In Bedliner
* Quick installation
* Easily removed
* No drilling or paint removal
* Just plain easy!
- vs. a Spray-In Bedliner
* Difficult and time-consuming to install
* Permanent (cannot be removed)
* Must be installed by trained professional in a controlled environment
